The Chicago Pride Parade is a parade that people attend every summer to show their support for the LGBTQ community and to have a fun time. Chicago’s Pride Parade is a way for people to show their respect towards the LGBTQ community for the impact they had during the Stonewall Riots which took place on June 27, 1969. The parade takes place every June which is the month for pride.
Richard William Pfeiffer was the coordinator of Chicago’s Pride Parade every year. Sadly, he passed away on October 6, 2019.
The parade takes place in the Boystown neighborhood which is located in Uptown Chicago.
This June, Chicago is celebrating its 51st annual Pride Parade.
There are many events that people like to participate in that lead up to the Pride Parade. According to the Chicago Pride website, “Last year, Chicago PrideFest was supposed to occur on June 20 and 21 while Pride in the Park was supposed to occur on June 27–28 leading up to the Pride Parade on June 28.” However, because of COVID-19, there were no events or Pride Parade last year because everyone was on lockdown and in quarantine. The events and the parade were postponed until 2021.
